Shanon's essay about a slave's story
*Shanon's essay is about an article we read in class that tells about a slave named Jeffrey Brace. He was caputred long ago in Africa and brought to America - his story was made into a book.
My name is Shanon. I live in a small town in Alaska. In school we learned about slavery. We read Henry's Freedom Box and Harriet Tubman and a story about slave Jeffrey Brace. I think stories like Jeffrey Brace's are important because they teach us what life was like for a captured slave so now we know.
Jeffrey Brace was a slave. He came from Africa. The people came and took him away. He had to leave his family. He had to be a slave.
We don't want bad things like that to happen again. It helps us know how people felt. They were probably very sad and very scared. He wrote a story and make us think about that.
